That is a different product from a small-group van with nine seats in it, and the difference shows up in the places you would not expect: which temples you reach, what time you arrive, and how long you can stand in front of one that has caught you.
The only item on this list that changes what you actually see. Agreeing a seven o'clock departure puts you at Wat Mahathat before the coaches can physically arrive, in the coolest hour of the day and the best light of it.
Wat Chaiwatthanaram stands on the west bank rather than on the island. A coach on a fixed route often will not go; a private car takes five minutes over it and thinks nothing of it.
Bang Pa-In Royal Palace is about 20 km south of the ruins, on the road back to Bangkok. On a private day it is a stop; on a group day it is usually the reason the itinerary is eleven hours long.

If you are travelling alone, the group day is very hard to argue with. If there are two or more of you, the per-person gap narrows quickly and the private day starts buying you things the coach cannot.
